It’s Back To School For Skales…

Skales

After touring in the UK, US and staging (along with his EME crew) one of the most successful music concerts of 2012, it’s back to the books for rapper Skales.
The 20-year-old who is studying Office Management at Lead City University in Ibadan put up a photo of himself on campus, looking bright and happy.
An earlier photo however shows the contrast – ‘Schooling in Nigeria means Alota frustration’, he wrote.
Skales is in his final year and will be graduating in 2013. With a music career already looking pretty bright, he’ll have more time to focus on  dominating the Nigerian music scene.Skales.

The EME concert, tagged ‘The Baddest’, is produced by events company R28, and is the first in a set of big-budget international standard concerts to be promoted by R28 and EME. The concert holds at The Grounds, Oceanview, in Victoria Island, Lagos, on Friday December 21.

‘And, trust me, we’re bringing a concert like never before’.

Apart from Wizkid, Banky, Niyola, Skales and others, many Nigerian acts from different generations are also expected to hit the stage in what many have tagged the concert of the year.

Styl-Plus break-up is official? Tunde Akinsanmi rebrands as NativeBoy, to release Xmas single

Remember Styl-Plus, the late nineties/early noughties R&B group who made several efforts at staging a comeback but failed?
Well news is that the T in STyl-Plus, Tunde Akinsanmi, is now pushing his new company, BAT Records Nigeria LTD which is a parent company to BAT Records Studios and BAT Clothing Company.
Since the group went their separate ways, Akinsanmi changed his stage name to NativeBoy but holds that he will always be a member of the group that brought us, Olufunmi.
NativeBoy In Your Eyes (I.Y.E) is Akinsanmi’s debut single which is rapidly becoming a sensational electronica/pop track worldwide.
NativeBoy In Your Eyes is now ranked #1 on Reverbnation for Electronica/R&B/Pop in Nigeria.
A new single will be coming shortly before Christmas. Stay tuned…
You will recall that Styl-Plus’ second album; “Unbreakable” did not fly in the market, and their most recent singles did not break waters at all.
But they had a really good run. In 1997, Akinsanmi teamed up with Shifi Emoefe , Yemi Akinwonmi and Lanre Faneyi to form the group STYL which later evolved to the award-winning group Styl-Plus with the addition of Zealous Onyecheme when Lanre passed away in 1999 and Yemi left the band.  Styl-Plus have performed worldwide including USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, Nigeria & more.
The Group have preformed with a number of artists including Shaka Demus and Pliers, Femi Kuti, 2 Face, Jazzman Olofin, Ruggedman, P-Square and opened concerts for Wyclef Jean, Boyz II Men and Yvonne Chaka Chaka. The group has received numerous Nigerian National awards as well as International awards by Channel O, Amen Awards and Kora Award nominees. In 2005, Call My Name won best R&B video award by Channel O South African music station.
